I’m always on the look out for interesting treasures wherever I travel, and La Mercada is all of my favourite products gathered in one destination: online and in my "bricks-and-mortar" shop in Vedbaek. The made-up name La Mercada (my feminine take on El Mercado: The Market) is inspired by my Spanish upbringing in Andalusia, where I’ve always sort out markets & craftsmen.

A few years ago I decided to exchange a busy life as an editor in London, for a much calmer one in Denmark. My husband and I bought a house in the beautiful Danish country-side, where I’ve learned to appreciate the tranquility of gardening, cooking, growing herbs and vegetables, while occasionally traveling to some of my favourite destinations such as the English countryside, where I always gather endless inspiration.

I began working freelance for V magazine ten years ago, which turned into several writing and styling jobs for magazines such as Dazed & Confused, Vogue and ELLE. I’ve been lucky to work with inspiring people from actresses to politicians, and world-renowned photographers. I’ve always searched for tomorrow’s stars, which has probably led me into writing three books about new design talents. My books are published internationally by Thames & Hudson and Penguin/Random House, currently in eight languages.

La Mercada is constantly growing, and new items are being added on a regular basis. I’m also available for private consultations on commercial projects, fashion and interior styling, should your home or project need a turn-a-round.
